Should the British public be allowed this referendum on Europe, and could this be Cameron's Waterloo?

If it was all about the Germans wanting Greece to be a more accessible and comfortable spot for their weekend villas that they could access more quickly and conveniently in their Mercs, perhaps it's only right they should pay for it all?
EU doomed to fail

Hillarious

Have you ever asked yourself why David Cameron, Nick Clegg and every major party leader back to and including Margaret Thatcher wanted us in the EU?

Why do you think that is? if it's so detrimental to us - heaven knows coming out would be popular

Why has no major party leader snatched the opportunity to lead us out to that supposed land of milk and honey?

Could it be they know something you dont?
"Bloc nations have never worked ichkeria, look at Russia, Yugoslavia etc., people crave their own identity and nationalism. "

For a start there is no comparison whatever between the EU and Russia or Yugoslavia. Russia is a large, admittedly dysfunctional, autocratic, empire but its ethnic minorities have been oppressed and/or ethnically cleansed and shows little sign of collapse, actually. Yugoslavia was a federation of disparate races and religions held together by a strong leader. When he departed the whole thing started to fall apart.
The EU is a union of independent sovereign states.
I'm rolling in laughter at AOgs comments, especially when I gave some structured suggestions to one of his two "themes" (though I can't remember exactly what they were and I have better things to do than trawling for them) - quick to rake up the muck is he, slow to suggest solutions.....

I just love his "neo-British Empire" concept attitude, bugger the rest of the world and kick the immigrants out, and that we are still a major world player.

We are not (underscored). Get real. The flag diminished on the empire yonks ago...some, like AOG seem to think it still exists and proud Britain can stand alone - its funny how all our leaders of the main parties back being in Europe.......we are simply too small to go it alone, and any future division re Scotland just will exacerbate the situation. The days of Metternich politics in Europe, requiring our judicious intervention, are well gone .
