Need their head testing. I phoned up for a car that was for sale locally, and spoke to the owner, even said I could pay cash for it now, I lived 5 minutes away from her, only for her to say she has a guy coming to view it tomorrow morning and travelling from Dorchester !! Madness. Silly woman passed up a sale there.

I don't understand why you are so narked, purple - you came on here telling us that you'd offered to buy something when the woman had already got a prospective buyer, and we'd said we wouldn't be impressed by the car equivalent of gazumping. What did you expect we'd do, agree with you?

I've just done the same. A couple came to see our car and said if they promised they would be back with half the money in a couple of days would I hold it as they really wanted it. They seemed very nice and obviously wanted the car so I said yes and put off someone else who phoned me afterwards. As promised they turned up last week and paid me half in cash and are coming back tomorrow to pay the rest and take the car. We're not all out to make a quick buck.
