There are a lot of scams going around in which we are tricked into making a call on a high rate number ,as much as £25 a minute .So my question is ,the call shows up on our phone bill in which we have to pay the phone provider So instead of a bill for £200 we are paying £300 .So how do the scam merchants get their hands on this money .Am I missing the point here somewhere .
They get paid by the phone provider- they've set up a premium rate number- so they get paid for it- simple as- how they get people to call it is another matter.
It's possible they pay the call receiver what they owe for connecting the call first, then send you your bill for making the call at the end of the quarter. It's not reasonable to expect them to act as police and know when a call was legitimately made and when not, just to cut off the service when a scam becomes clear.
