i totally agree with poverty but i think look after poverty in this country before you start worrying about other countries, sorry but that what i think! look after your own first!

Chriswood8 - How can you say that we (Europe, as I'm not British) has nothing to do with poverty in Africa??? Have you ever heard the GB being described as an empire? It didn't come by it self, I strongly suspect all the African countries under the British crown had something to do with that! Have you ever looked at the borders of the countries of Africa, they're quite nice and straight many of them, and why do you think a lot of these countries have civil wars? Fake borders have a lot to do with that in my opinion!

And I'm not to fond of what the World Bank was doing there in the beginning of 80s, with some very ideological liberal economic policies, that didn't exactly help the economy in countries such as Tanzania, by liberalising the agricultural sector in weird steps with no regard for how farmers used to sell their produce.

I'm not sure I exactly answered your question Jamie-john, but I must say I disagree with you because of the above and as others have stated, isn't it possible to help others than just the people in your own back yard?

ps. Bono's money would not wipe out world poverty in one night! I'm sorry if I'm being rude, but have you any idea of the scale of this?
