Hi all,

Hope someone can help.

I was mugged last year of a brand new iPhone 4s.

There person was court, I then had to wait as he was in prison for the same offence against others (also the weekend after being released from prison he stole someone's iPad 2)

When I first made my complaint in November last year he and his mum were both hounding me by texting and calling me day and night saying if I dropped the charges they'd pay me the money in full.

When he was arrested for my theft he again told the police officer that his dad would pay me the full amount.

Well he went to court last week and I got a letter yesterday saying he has a electronic tag for 28 days. I emailed the person who sent me the letter and she said he's been tagged, no mention of money was talked about and that the case is closed and she can't help me anymore. I did send a second email which she has failed to reply.

Is there anything I can now do to recover the cash? I spoke to victim support and although on all letters sent to me saying they've been informed they had no file on my case.

I am fuming now and want my much needed money back.

TIA

You've been amazingly helpful exdc I can not thank you enough. I have registered the imei number on the site already
Ah ok, great. Its a very good site and law enforcement agencies have a free and higher access to the information available which even shows when the phone was made and which service provider it was sold to, including when other other Sim cards are used / registered in them. (there is one downside to it when ppl register it themselves as stolen but that nowt for the public to be concerned with etc).

Case was closed that was it just case is closed then if I wanted paperwork I had to phone the number he gave me which was incorrect had to phone another number and go online print off a form , sending it back then it could take upto 40 days to get a copy of my statement.

I literally just broke down and cried lol
Which force, sorry 'service', are you dealing with maisie?
Hi Maisie

You dont need any of the case papers we just want to know whether the police and CPS made an application for compo ( i.e. did they submit the MG19) if not, why not and if they did was was the courts decision. Was this call from some call centre operator or the OIC?

You are entitled to the information you seek and the police must conform with The Victims Charter 2006, http://www.nationalar...s/HO/421/2/vichap.htm
Police Farce, Shoota
Question Author
It was the officer in charge.

He didn't say if he did or did not put the forms in. Just the court has made a decision and the case has now been closed.

Why does it matter what station shoota?
Hi

If it were me I would now write a polite letter to the Divisional commander (or go and see the Duty Inspector) and explain the basic's of the offence including that the OIC 'assured' you that you would get the money etc. Explain you are disappointed that VS couldnt answer your query or wouldn't make enquiries on your behalf so you contacted the OIC directly only to be told that the case is closed. Explain that you require very simple information iei what enquiries did the investigator make to locate the stolen item and what actions were taken, did the police submit an application to the prosecutor, if yes what was the outcome etc etc and of course, ask if you are entitled to this info in accordance with force policy and The Victims Charter 2006.

I wish people could see what nonsense really goes on within the police service and how badly victims of real crimes are treated

I was told they wouldn't send me paperwork I had to go online fill out a form then send it back and get the info I need within 40 days.

The divisional commander at that police station?? If so do I just write that on envelope
Yes .............Divsional Commander, Toytown Constabulary, etc

He / she wont read it but it will get actioned etc etc

If no joy then you can write directly to your area CPS.
Question Author
Toytown sound about right.

Oh just heard from the woman at CJS she said

Dear Xxxx ,
I forwarded your email to PC xxxx as he is the officer who you spoke to.I will also forward this email to him as i can only tell you what information the court computer has given me and it doesn't mention compensation.I am unable to comment about what the officer has told you.
Regards
Ok kool, well lets see what happens, you will get the answers sooner or later.
