I've just seen my first Swallow, 1 day later than last year. A joyous sight if ever there was.

Still waiting here. I always see them in my local park, but none yet. You're lucky to have seen one Prudie.

I thought I was and I'm in the South but the North has beaten us. Who cares, I love it when they're here as they always nest in our car port and that wonderful twittering they make is a real sound of Summer.
Prudie, how lovely! Haven't seen any here in Gloucestershire yet.
Yes, I always think they herald summer. Sadly though, according to all reports May is going to be a horrid month weatherwise !
I had some swallows nesting in my garage last year . all tho I love the little things I'm blocking the hole this year because of the mess thay left all over my car.
I have read somewhere that May is expected to be the coldest for 100 years !
dusty - couldn't you cover your car up - they may come back to the nest site and be disappointed - what a shame.

I read that too tony.

I heard that too Tony only today at work. Dusty you sound like my OH, he doesn't half moan about their droppings on his beloved.
Saw one in Kendal on Tuesday.
