Also, will `mse` interfere with Malware-anti-malware and slow the computer down any more than now? My son argues that I only need the one, i,e Malware, please advise. TIA

By 'mse' I assume you mean Microsoft Security Essentials. MSE is an anti-virus programme and essentially runs all the time. You son is correct in that only one anti-virus programme should be running at a time, due to conflicts and false positives.

Malwarebytes does not run all the time and is used as and when you want, so no conflict there. Once a week is sufficient.

The PAID FOR version of Malwarebytes runs all the time.

The FREE one only runs on demand.

Yes, please keep MSE on your computer which is free and protect you from virus, nalware or any more.

Malware-anti-malware is only detect malware.

You can also keep the two, but please remember to turn off the real-time protection of one program.
