I want to get a tattoo that reads 'to have and to hold' and then the date I got married underneath. Preferably in some form of script writing. Size wise I don't want it to cover any more than about 6/7 inches along and maybe 1 inch high. I would like it on the inside of my bicep.

If I went to a reputable tattoo parlour, do you have an idea how much this would cost?

Thanks

It really does depend on your tattoist and the area of the country you get inked!
You can pop in and say what you want and they will give you a quote.
Have you discussed this with your wife? I would have been horrified if my husband had done this. She is not a chattel.
Just had my first tattoo done last Sunday. I had four linked hearts (for my 3 daughters and wife) which is roughly h 25mm x w 100mm. My tattooist charged me £60. Now I don't know if this is too much, cheap or about right, but they are a very good business with really good local feedback.

I called beforehand, went along for a little chat about design, it was then I was told of cost. I did look into other possible tattooists within our area, but decided I was more than happy with these guys.

Hope that helps?
It's worth the effort to find a good tattooist, one who can spell, once it's been done there is no turning back. Have a look at the different fonts and the sizes on your computer. Find the font you like, type the words you want then print it and take it with you to discuss it with the tattooist
I just dont know how people can find tattoos attractive.
Some are nice.
I love tattoos and think it sounds lovely! I would love for someone to do that for me!!
Me neither Dee Sa, I saw a lady the other day she was attractive but she was wearing a low backed dress and a tattoo of (quite large) flowers ran all the way down her spine. It spoilt the natural look of her. God knows what they will look like when she is 60+
I am an oldie AYG and in my days the only women who had tatoos had been to Borstal or prison and you avoided them like the plague, the other memory is reading that in concentration camps they killed the poor inmates and made lampshades from tatooed skin what a horrible thought.
Tattooing is an ancient art used in Europe amongst males and females at least 5,000 years ago. It was reintroduced in the 1700's and became something which only the aristocrisy ( again male and female) had until about 1890 when the first tattoo machine was introduced. As it became easier for working class people to have tattoos during the 1900's , it lost it's appeal with the higher classes, although perfectly respectable women continued to be tattooed, particularly the wives and family of master tattoo artists who acted as a canvass for their husbands finest work.
Your ideas that only women who had been to prison had tattoos probably stems not from the fact that you are ' an oldie' as you put it but actually that your memory of tattooing is quite brief and possibly only covers the period after the 1950's / 1960's when there was something of a hepatitis scare and many tattoo artists closed leaving it the domain for a while of those who did tattoos themselves or allowed other unsuitable people to do them for them.
With the improvement of health awareness and legislation to protect the public tattooing is once again a popular artform.
What do 60+ ladies look like when they have tattoos- they look like ladies who are 60+ with tattoos- no huge deal and certainly not better or worse than 60+ ladies without tattoos.
Buy her a bunch of flowers, much more reliable.
...mmm...hate to sound pessimistic BBB but a lad I worked with had something similar done and it cost him an arm and a leg to change the date when he remarried.

Not trying to say your marriage isn't rock solid but just think it through before you commit to this.

hate transfers mesel' but well, things happen in life ..things change don't they?
00PS...transfers are ok..meant to say I hate tattoos ;-)
How long have you been married? If it doesn't last (and lots don't) then you definitely won't want a tattoo like that as a reminder.
Don't listen to the nay sayers :P You want a tattoo go get it done!

Any reputable tattooist will discuss everything about your tattoo before they book you in to do it anyway, and this obviously includes the costs.
