I've bought 2 poppies now - they have both fallen apart.

The "popper" on the green bit isn't secure on the black bit.

Are they made in China now?

Maybe, it's because you're soooo proud to wear your poppy wioth pride, venator :)
No, still made in Richmond upon Thames as far as I know. One of my neighbours drives the poppy van. I`ll go and tell him off for you.
Agree, 237SJ, as noted below...

Probably, just an end of shift (gnomic) madrush to the door, in the case of your poppies, venator.
Last year my daughter bought us both very nice poppy brooches from the British Legion to wear every year instead of the plastic ones. (Obviously we donate to the appeal.)
Thanks quizzywig, I was about to ask where I could buy one.
I've got a poppy brooch and a wristband (if you buy the biker wristband from their site, it's black not blue which IMO is more appropriate). http://www.rblr.co.uk.../?page=wristbands.php

The poppy brooches this year have an option for 2012 printed on them - clever, it means you can't be mean and not buy one next year.
They seem to be pretty cheap and nasty these days. I remember them as a child being 2 layers of red felty stuff with a black button with Haig Fund written on it (didn't come with a leaf either).
I remember that too, prudie
the leaf is to be at 11 am, folk....................
