He had it surgically removed but it was so long healing that I had to tend to the area myself whilst we were on holiday. It was 20 years ago, so things may have changed and I may have forgotten the finer details, however here goes. Whilst he held the offending area open, I packed in some long thread of cotton like stuff, which I had firstly soaked in a yellow solution. I kept packing and packing until I couldn't pack in anymore! Then I put a cotton wool dressing over the top and undies kept that in place! No swimming for John on that holiday though. He had left his condition of so long before seeking treatment, that it had almost worn through to his back passage....so it was a huge hole to repair. The packing ensured that it healed from the base to the top of his skin. He also started on a course of 'megapulse' which speeded up the healing amazingly.
Hope this helps a bit!!
