A lot of these DVD players from Tesco, Adsa etc are cheap imports from China.


They may be OK, but to be honest you can get a Sony or Toshiba DVD player for �30 or so and you are far better going for one of those.


I gather the failure rate from these supermarket DVD players is very high.

Thank you vehelpfulguy, you certainly are.
Judie, as vehelpfulguy says, you can now get major names for a reasonable price. A friend just got a Panasonic DVD player from Currys for �39 and says it is excellent (better picture than the one he had from Powerhouse). Also consider the models at Aria.co.uk but the Panasonic (or Toshiba, Sony) look really good. Do you want to play mp3s and jpeg photos/Kodak discs?
