One leading cause of atheism is religion.
Or they may proclaim, ‘I only believe what I see, and I can’t see any invisible Creator.

"You ask for information as to where I get my posts from, then say I am advertising. If this is advertising, so is youtube and the other sites you post." No it isn't, don't be silly. If you want to present a citation to your quotes, I would encourage it. If you want to divert traffic from this site to another with the message "find the answers here," then it'll be...

Well in recent years, scientists and engineers have, in a very real sense, allowed plants and animals to instruct them. (Job 12:7, 8) They are studying and mimicking the design features of various creatures—a field known as biomimetics—in an effort to create new products and improve the performance of existing ones. As you following the examples, ask yourself, ‘Who really deserves the credit for these designs?’

Have you not seen the atheist tee-shirt,then?
Again with this nonsense that somehow "scientists and engineers" have only just woken up to what might be learnt from nature. I can think of advances in pretty much every field which has drawn heavily on what happens in nature throughout history.

And you have still to convince anyone except your fellow faithheads that the world we see around us owes any kind of debt of gratitude to a mythical entity you have decided to believe in.......
Goodlife - Job 12:4
goodlife, I wear an atheist tee shirt, it's blank, there's nothing there.
just curious goodlife... your little tale about the newspaper ... what was that purpose of it?

even if it existed, what does the fact that an editor of a newspaper decided to add a weekly religious column prove?
how is it relevant? why mention it?

all it means is one man, made a choice, nothing more.

Well at first it seems too good to be true for some, but a grand future arranged by someone is now invitingly calling mankind. In spite of the din and clamor of all sorts of propaganda, many good-eared people have heard this calling and have responded favorably to it.

They are the happier for it. Now they have a worthwhile calling in life. It gives them purpose in life. Yes, real reason for living on and surviving to see bright hope come true. No longer does life seem humdrum, aimless, leading nowhere but to a “dead end.” They live for the approaching righteous new world.

well goodlife, your worthwhile calling seems to be writing rubbish on Answerbank
@Goodlife "No longer does life seem humdrum, aimless, leading nowhere but to a “dead end.” They live for the approaching righteous new world."

Thats just a false equivalence. I do not find life humdrum, aimless or leading nowhere. Quite the contrary. I live for my family, my friends and myself. To live for a hypothetical righteous new world is a waste of energy and waste of a life.
Goodlife, you may have had a life like that but many of us, myself included have a great future to look forward to, lots going on and we are looking forward to it. You must be really looking forward to death for reincarnation! lol, I bet you cant wait!!

Ratter@ For you understand the Bible is know the purpose why you are here on earth. But more importantly, it can give you direction for what we are to do now. Then you come to realize that it is not merely a matter of looking to the time ahead when your life will be more purposeful, No but living now with, real purpose.

The apostle speaks absolute truth, therefore, when he says: “Godly devotion is beneficial for all things, as it holds promise of the life now and that which is to come.—1 Tim. 4:8.
Goodlife, you may have improved your miserable day to day existence by fooling yourself with empty promises, but don't assume the rest of us lead a similarly miserable existence. We don't. How very sad you are.
Question Author
Naomi @ In some cases, you may know why you are sad; in other cases, you may not. You don’t have to be in a horrible situation to feel sad, It can come on at any time, even if your life is trouble free. It’s weird, but it happens!
@goodlife - You fail to recognise the irony contained within your own posts, and the arrogance of assumption as well.

You accuse Ratter of having a life with no purpose, no direction- but Ratter has already stated they have a life full of purpose and direction - the significant difference being that it is their purpose, their direction - not some twaddle imposed from a fundamentalist faithhead who insists the life is empty of meaning without god /jesus/ some other mythical dude to fill it.

You may consider the apostle to be telling the truth in your little homily, but I certainly do not. A life devoted to a mythical deity would certainly be misguided, and wasted.

Your OP has again been well and truly answered. There is every reason to doubt god, and only faith, not reason, sustains a belief in god.

//You accuse Ratter of having a life with no purpose,//

I think you need to look again at my comment. In no way am I accusing Ratter of anything. My point was that if you have a spiritual need then reading, understanding and acting on what you learn from the Bible gives a person a goal, or direction in life. I was speaking hypothetically not directing my comments to anyone in particular.
Thanks Goodlife, but I do have a person a goal, and a direction in life and both will achieve far more good in this world than you ever will with your very irritating babble that means nothing to most people.
@goodlife - Thanks for clarifying your comments. People have recourse to more than just the bible when it comes to satisfying any "spiritual" need they might have.

Yours does not hold any special knowledge or benefit, and it is the height of arrogance to assume otherwise.
Goodlife, //if you have a spiritual need then reading, understanding and acting on what you learn from the Bible gives a person a goal, or direction in life. //

The same could be said of the Koran or of umpteen other books. Doesn't mean they're right though.
goodlife// My point was that if you have a spiritual need then reading, understanding and acting on what you learn from the Bible gives a person a goal, or direction in life.//
That may be true but the key words are "if you have a spiritual need".
Yet again you miss the point that Atheists don't need a spiritual need to achieve happiness. You mistakenly assume happiness can only be achieved by having a faith.
