so the N Koreans can target us instead of the US.

North Korea enters 'state of war' with South

If the rumours of cannibalism are to be believed, some of them may be hoping
Kim Jong goes for it.
I do believe it's time to get out 'the big stick', it's more than justified with all the rhetoric and bluster from this despotic megalomaniac.
London is 1500 miles closer to Pyongyang than Washington is, so we'd make a better target.

I expect Cameron will tell Kim "Calm down, dear".
perhaps if the US ceased holding these joint manoeuvres near the border, Kim would be less upset. How would we feel if Putin had his navy doing target practice off Dorset?
kim has no choice in the matter,it is the old generals trying to prove the north is still a real threat. He has a western image so they must posture to keep their "deadly" threat to the west.
Just heard on radio that war has been declared between north and south Korea ......bad bad bad !
murray, not quite. Bluster and foolishness, seeing as how one whiff of a bomb from North Korea will see them obliterated.

Steve.5.

Nagasaki and Hiroshima were not bombed to bully and intimidate. The bombs were dropped to put an end to WW11 in the Far East, which if they hadn't been, would have been continued by the Japanese with much greater loss of life.

Not much sympathy from your fellow Answerbankers Stargazer, but I hope you are now feeling much better, and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.
Here here Chrissa 1,a lot of people forget or dont know the reason why.
Yes chrissa 1, you are right the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was necessary because the Japanese would have never surrendered otherwise.
estimated troop losses on the American side as millions, as a land war would have been a war of attrition, and no one could have afforded that in time or manpower.
Whilst it was a devastating thing to do, it did shorten the war with Japan.

what do you think war is, a gentlemen's game of cricket, it isn't, estimated deaths WW2, 60 to 90 million, what's 30 million between enemies, innocents die every minute of every day, have a look what's still happening in the world, for example in Syria, those caught in the middle of this war of attrition. No one said what happened in Nagasaki and Hiroshima was right, no one knows, but what it did was bring a halt to more deaths on all sides.
