Can anyone identify this plant which appeared in a neglected part of my garden.
It is about 3 feet tall. (August) It has never flowered but has a spike of small berries or buds in a cluster which have never opened and are turning brown. The leaves are opposite and the stem is not flecked.
Many thanks for any suggestions

Try googling Himalayan honeysuckle.

Hi Robinia
Have found your suggestion on Google. What a lovely plant! Unfortunately, although very similar at first glance, the flower spikes are upright on mine and absolutely no sign of those beautiful flowers. I have a photo that I intended to send but can't work out how to attach it. Is it possible to add a photo?

you need an account at a photo hosting site (photobucket or flickr is what i use) upload the photo there then put the ink here.
I use tinypic, no account needed.
Just click 'Choose file' and then upload now. Copy and paste the direct link option onto here.
