Sqad, the most fun (or dismay) is had when you get true experts, used to testimony, in the witness box. For a start, they are never as definite or outspoken in their conclusions as they were in their statement to your side and have a distressing tendency to go at least halfway to agreeing with the expert for the other side; I am sure they all meet in their St James's clubs and have a chat beforehand, over a delightful meal, to decide on an accommodation!
But where they enjoy themselves is when you have to put the defence case: "Professor, is it not the case that these injuries would be consistent with the injured party falling off a ladder?"
Prof: "Yes, perfectly true [Defence counsel cheers up at this happy development].....[long pauses].....but... only if he were 4 foot 2, weighed twenty stone, the ladder was 80 feet high, and , in descending, he executed what, I understand divers call "a triple back somersault with pike". I am not aware of evidence to support that hypothesis"
