For the last hour or so, my dog has repeatedly been sticking up a sort of transparent mucus type liquid. I'm reluctant to take him to the vet unless totally necessary as they charge a blooming fortune especially at weekends. He's obviously got a very upset stomach. Any advice please?

I meant SICKING UP, not sticking
You don't want to hear this but i would be phoning the vet.
It's odd that he's been doing it for as long as an hour. That's what would concern me. In itself, there is nothing odd about it; dogs often do it if their stomach is a bit upset, but look happier after a few minutes. I'd phone the vet too, if only to be asked about any other symptoms and/or be reassured.
When was he fed last ? If its frothy then its stomach acid and he is hungry, please try him with a bit of food.
And plenty of water if he'll drink. A dog that doesn't drink is a sign of something you should be taking them to the vets to have a look at.
what happened? how is the dog?
Hope you took him to the vet ....
