There is no point setting up a business, taking premises, buying stock etc. if no one in your area wants to buy what you sell. What may seem like a great idea amongst family and friends may not be viable as a business. You should start by doing a business plan. Properly executed this will examine costs, market, suppliers, financing, cash flow, competition, exit strategy etc in the sort of detail that a bank would need in order to consider lending money.
Establishing and maintaining a profitable business is not just a matter of getting through the first year, it's a long term commitment. The good news is you can get lots of help with setting it up. You bank, accountants etc will all be able to offer help.
I will say this about setting up a business though. It's great to have a dream, but don't let your heart rule your head. Good Luck.
Why not make contact with someone in a different area (over 200 miles away - try a Yell search) who has done this and ask their advice?
Or investigate a franchise dealership? Contact the companies you mention to see if they have a scheme if there is no-one in your area already..
Be careful though. Don't go in too deep too quick. gammaray has offered you good business advice.....
