It is sometimes used in the context of the "troubles" in Northern Ireland. Everybody is aware of the problem but studiously ignores it.
This little lads Mother was always going to be a prime suspect, along with the Father, and it now looks, this Saturday morning, as if it is indeed the case.
I understand that the Police have a very difficult job to do under these tragic circumstances, but I suspect that whatever they were saying in public, they were aware of the possibility of the unthinkable.
I remember those crocodile tears that the Philpots cried in their Press Conference, and I suspect that is the reason why we didn't see a similar event in Edinburgh.

Yes...I have no problem whatsoever with entirely standing by my remarks of yesterday Chewn. The words used by the Police showed that they realised that the story started by this lads Mother was only one version of the truth. It was obvious to most of us, that this story stunk to high heaven. It just wasn't plausible that a very small child to dress himself and leave his flat in the middle of the night.
I'm just glad that we were spared the pantomime of having to watch a Press Conference where his Mother cried a lot of crocodile tears, while lying through her teeth. There has been far too much of that of late.
