I've just bought a 13 plate Fiesta. Was driving to work this morning and noticed in the reflection from the car in front that my parking lamps were on, even though the dial that controls my headlights was pointing straight up in the 'Off' position.
I then noticed that if I then turned the dial to the setting where my parking lamps should switch on, they go off! It's like the parking lamp setting and the off setting have switched around. It's not a huge problem, but I have just shelled out thousands of pounds for the car so I expect that to be right really!
Unless there's something I'm missing? I haven't got automatic headlights - I've already checked, so I'm not sure what it could be.
Are you sure it's the parking lights and do the rear lights come on as well?
I've got a Citroen and with the lights switched off, I get 'daytime' running lights on at the front. If I switch the lights on to the sidelight setting then the 'daytime' running lights switch off.
I've only noticed them today but no, I don't think the rear lights come on at the same time. The owner's handbook doesn't say anything about Daytime Running Lights although I did only have a quick flick through it, but if they're present on most new cars then it may well be them.
They look like parking lights, they're certainly not 'eyebrows' like that article mentions. Although I assume they're not 'eyebrows' on all models of cars.
Ah thanks for that. From that picture it doesn't look as though there's anywhere else for them to be other than in the casing where the headlights are then. So I presume I could easily mistake them for parking lights?!
I have a brand new Fiesta and it has what is called running lights. These are two small lights on the front but none behind. I don't think they can be switched off though.
