I read on the front of the Daily Mail today that Patrick Mcloughlin is considering bringing in this measure. How is he proposing to catch them? With more cash cows parked at the roadside perhaps? It certainly will not be done by the Police or their cardboard cutout assistants.Just another piece of useless legislation.
Couldn't agree more grumpy. In other words no-one or very few will ever get caught as there are just not the Traffic Police Officers that there used to be. You never see a traffic car patrolling the roads anymore and with all the cutbacks there never will be again. Sad state of affairs really.

Hands-free phones will not stop the problem. There was another thread here this morning about a woman who killed two toddlers while driving and talking on one. As NJ said, it's the lack of concentration that is the problem, and it's not the same as holding a conversation wth a passenger in the car.
I agree ratter...hit the motorist where it really hurts...take away their licences for a while.
And the answer as to how we are going to catch these stupid people is to employ the same method of detection that we apply to every other traffic law transgression......more Police cars, and if necessary, more cameras.
If you take the mobile away from them they will buy another so the very simple answer is, when you catch the morons immediately impound the car & crush it, they'll soon learn.
