Wood Pigeon Or Stock Dove ?
9 Answers
I saw two very anusually tame pigeons in my garden today and managed to pass them within a few feet (definitely not feral pigeons).
They lacked the white markings on the sides of their necks but in every other respect looked like wood pigeons.
I have a fair knowledge of birds but I'm unsure about these ones.
So my question is : Are they young juvenile wood pigeons, Females, or stock doves ?

I love to see them being fed. Both of them trying to get into the parent's crop at the same time! Thanks for BA , Chip.

I'd say a juvenile wood pigeon would have white markings underneath on its belly, juvenile stock doves would have the beginnings of the green markings on the neck whilst juvenile collar doves would have the white on the neck.
Google them all in google images and you might be able to spot the difference although its subtle.
