Ummm, you are correct that it is the acting on the impulse that is illegal, not being a paedophile per se.

The very sad thing is that decent men and women who are either born this way or become conditioned through abuse to themselves dare not seek help because of the repercussions even though they have committed no crime.
I firmly believe that none of us can control who we are sexually attracted to and if your attraction is out of the 'normal' range that is fine providing the 'objects' of desire are of consenting age and do consent.

There is no help for people with paedophile tendencies. It is so repugnant that no charity could raise funds to provide help. Government officials and bodies are of no help because once that label is attached it could affect every aspect of that person's life, maybe forever.

I wish I had an effective solution, but I don't.

I would also like to point out (again) that men and women attracted to girls of 12 and above are not paedophiles, unless the girl is undeveloped for her age. Paedophilia is a sexual attraction towards children who have not gone through puberty and today puberty can begin at 8, with the average age being 11.

Correction to my previous answer: paedophiles are attracted to children who have not started puberty (prepubescent), in the case of girls usually 11 years old and younger.

I have been giving this some thought and I don't think Glitter, Savile, etc are mad, just bad. In the case of Glitter, he has gone considerably out of his way to abuse little girls, by going to the other side of the globe to do so. He, like the rest, are just taking advantage of children to slake his filthy thirst for sex. Its just lust not madness. Castrate away for all I care.

He's charged at the moment, plead not guilty and not convicted yet? I know he has previuosly been convicted. Think I heard somewhere yesterday that some of the claims on Savilles estate have been rejected due to lack of "evidence"

He was convicted in the UK in 1999 for possessing images of child abuse and he was placed on the UK sex offenders' register for life following his conviction for sexual offences against children in Vietnam.
