Fluid On The Lung.

Hi Abers, my friend in Cyprus was about to have an operation for an aneurism on her chest this week, but they,ve said she has fluid on her lungs, so op is cancelled for now.
How do they get rid of fluid on the lungs? Cheers folks

It depends upon the cause of the fluid and where it is sited.
If it is in the pleura, then it may well have to be drained surgically and may be due to many things..e.g pneumonia.
If it is in the alveoli ( distant part of the lungs) then it could be treated with diuretics.
So it all depends on the site of the fluid.
