I'm clearly flogging a dead horse here, given that no one has answered my repeated request for any evidence that any youngster who admires footballers has ever copied the antisocial behaviour of any of his heroes, be that alcoholism, rape or whatever, rather than just his skills on the field. But I'll make one last stab at it.
Sir.prize's response earlier here quoting an Oldham sponsor reads, "Evans should be able to lead a life without further punishment after serving his sentence, although our feelings remain the same that this should not be within the public domain where his previous behaviour may influence the next generation.
Again with the "next generation" concept! Accordingly, I repeat, "Is there any shred of evidence that any youngster has ever copied the inappropriate OFF-FIELD shenanigans of a footballing figure?"
How are we know? It's the same kind of thing as computer games being blamed for some violence. We wouldn't know if that person was going to turn out violent regardless. Same with wife beaters/drunks/adultery.
i think it's probably more to do with the fact that the "next generation" needs to be shown that Breaking the law has a serious affect on your ability to work, and that it not acceptableto do this, and even when you've "done your time" the affects on your life still last.
QM, I suppose it is very difficult to PROVE whether some youngster or adolescent's behaviour was attributable to them being influenced by a footballer. Firstly they may have been subliminally influenced and secondly I doubt whether anyone would ever say 'I did it 'cos I saw [insert footballer of choice] do it, so I fort it was orright', so I don't think it's possible to answer your question.

The bigger picture, which some fail to be seeing, is that no commercial organisation want's to be assocviated with someone who (at present) has a conviction such as Mr Evans has. Nor do they want to be associated with the negative aspects of the case and the fact that other clubs have turned him down.
DTC, I did read your link material, but it seems to relate purely to on-field actions/words; it even includes the words "what stars do on the pitch". As such, I don't see that it really provides an answer to my question about any impact on the young of players' off-field behaviour.
It's probably true that the "we'll never know" approach is more accurate. However, saying that is just another way of saying, "No evidence actually exists that off-field behaviour IS copied" and that was the very reason I had for querying the belief that it is.
Never mind, thanks to all of you for the responses to my personal query.
