The idea has been around a bit
and was surprisingly MORE relevant and common when the EU was smaller and therefore Germany's contribution was relatively larger.

Froggies started it after the Treaty of Rome 1957

but as Churchill ( not a great supporter of the Common Market ) said

So, I guess that means, the greatest single contributor to the EU is Germany

Ive just wiki'd this and it seems the UK is behind France Italy and DE (I'm presuming that is Germany) in total National Contributions
