How many of you are hoping to see this? Sun shining brightly in Dundee and not a cloud in the sky so fingers crossed. Going to use the pinhole method or the colander one. Will report back.

Lucky you maggie, it's completely cloudy and overcast in Dorset so no hope, it's not even darker than usual for a cloudy day.
Washout :-(
Still really bright here, looks like we have about a 3rd coverage at the moment.
maggiebee i've got a solar eclipse thread going lol
Dull as dish water around here

Sorry mallyh, didn't notice your thread. About 1/3rd covered here.
Wonderful view here in Leicestershire, bit too bright perhaps, but OH got some good photos with a posh lens and filters. May upload one to you later .... would loved to have been in the Faroe Islands when it went pitch dark, it was spookily dusk here.
We saw it here in the West Mids, pretty bright here. I was expecting to see something spectacular where as to me it just looked like it was gonna rain.
Saw the total eclipse off the Faroe Islands. Absolutely fantastic. It was cloudy until the vital moment. Must see another one. I can die happy now, at least.
Same here in the East Mids Tony... A bit of a disappointment :o(
It was a damp squib where I was. Cloud everywhere, could not even detect a dimming of the light level. Sun didn't even come out until after noon. Eclipse ? What eclipse ?

Still, equinox at 10:45 tonight, to look forward to. Now that'll be a sight.
It was super here in South Wales. I pulled into a layby near Bridgend and watched it, through the same Eclipse glasses I used in Cornwall in August 1999.

It was very cloudy then but today the weather couldn't have been better !
Saw it, it was EXCELLENT !
it was cloudy down here so didn't get to see much. It went a little bit dark but it was more like dark clouds of a thunderstorm.

Shot through thickish cloud outside Aberdeen, just at the max cover point
Full cloud here so we watched it on the TV.

Tell us more Cloverjo; do you live nearby, are you there for a short break? maybe you're on a cruise ship?!
Great photos Slapshot.

There are some other photos there too, did yiu realise?
Saw it (mostly) clearly in S Midlands. Used the goggles/spex from 1999.
Sorry for the late reply, Maydup. Are people still interested a few days after the event? Yes, I was on a cruise ship. Just got back.
The weather was terrible early in the day and everyone was very morose, until just before the first partial phase when occasional clouds scurried across and we all prayed they'd stay away. It was clear for the whole of totality, and then the clouds started to come across as it finished. We were very lucky. There were 3 other ships on designated eclipse cruises, and they didn't anything.
It was amazing!
