Geraniums In Winter
6 Answers
I have planted some geraniums in a movable wooden 'trough'. Will they survive if I bring them into an unheated garage for the winter. I live in Ontario, Canada!

You could either buy a cheap heat pad from Canadian Tire and put them on that wrapped in bubble wrap or better still take as many cuttings as you can and stick them straight into soil and keep them in the Utility or kitchen -geraniums root really easily and they will be ready by May to replace those you had this year.
Not being 'picky' are you asking about pelargoniums or geraniums? If pelargoniums then replies above are valid.
If geraniums then it depends on the variety. I have some that survive year after year in my garden having been covered in snow and frost during the winter. However, I suspect your winters are more severe than ours.

Bearing in mind what Retrochic stated above, a -20C temp is right on the cusp of their survivability.

So I'd agree with everyone else and suggest you find somewhere else warmer to store them.
