Avast antivirus

On my new little laptop I get a daily verbal message telling me that the database has been updated. On my older desktop I get the same message but not the verbal audio with it. Any ideas why?

Upload aborted

When I try to forward a certain e-mail I get the message 'upload aborted' instead of 'message sent'. I have never experienced this problem before. Any ideas why? I'm on AOL, windows XP

Skype v. Yahoo messenger

Can anyone tell me if there would be any advantage in me using Skype instead of Yahoo messenger which I have found to be very cheap and efficient as a means of calling telephones from my computer?

Resolution too low

I cannot download a Canon digital camera's CD software onto my little laptop because the resolution is too low. The highest I can make it is 1024 X 600. Is there anyway I can get round this?
