Tampons with a skirt?

Has anyone else seen these new compact tampons from tampax with a skirt?? Call me stupid, but does that have a use? Anyone tried it yet? I'm intrigued! First they are sweets and now they're items of...

tampons

I have really heavy periods and have to use the biggest tampons (super +) but on the pack it says to change them at least every eight hours but I have to change mine every hour? what can I do??
