Hard-Drives for Laptops

I need a bit of advice. I have a new laptop (Packard Bell EasyNote) and I would like to purchase a hard-drive for it so I can keep all of my MUSIC and PHOTO'S seperate to my computer (I have a lot!)....

My son's laptop won't work it says there is a 'NST' file missing-he thinks he may have moved an NST file but not deleted it?? it won't boot up at all we are trying to restore it using a system search...
