MP3s and battery removal

Could any one tell me how important it is to chose a MP3 with a removable battery?

warranty for mp3 bought overseas

Last week I bought a MP3 (Packardbell) in Dubai. I couldn't test it till I got back to UK. I can't get it to work. How do I claim under warranty? Packardbell website is hopeless. SK 24/10/05
