Allergy sticky ears in dog

Hi there. My two year old Weimaraner GSP cross boy has being diagnosed will allergy problems. The main symptom is inflamed ears which then become dirty and sticky. We are working with the vet who is excellent but the steroid tablets which helped at first have stopped being effective at a dose which is acceptable in terms of side effects for the dog. The next stage is to try a topical steroid spray which we will start on monday. We have cleaned up his diet which has helped a lot but not solved the problem. We have also tried
Canaural drops (the thick yellow ones)
Thornit powder
We currently use ear cleaning solution made from boracic and lactic acid to clean his ears (at vets suggestion) plus the steroid tabs and evening primrose oil capsules, again at vet's suggestion.
has anyone else had experience of this and can you make any suggestions please?
He has bare, not hairy ear canals and is as good as gold about the twice daily cleaning and treatment.

Just heard that nephew with nose cancer is in hospital as he cant swallow, apparently a side efect of the radiotherapy. They may give him a feeding tube so he can go home.

Hello again. All done. I have 2 phone lines now and can choose. But I'm paid up now til 30th of March with Virgin and my own number so I'm sticking with that for a while then ringing Orange to keep my old number as they have given me a new one. Hope you're keeping up. :o)
The young man that came Robi was only 31 he had a lovely tan, not quite Orange! He actually worked for BT I found out.
I hope your Nephew gets better soon Neti. He is in the best place for the help he needs I'm sure.

I used to work on switchboards like that Robi, and whenever an emergency call came through, each operater shared the burden with one other, and a red flashing light would show, we would ignore it until the supervisor came and answered it, too much bother, I wonder how many people were murdered on my watch!

Neti that happened to my fil, his wasn't in his nose but his mouth. In fact he got a permanent feeding tube put into his stomach which is quite common with mouth and throat cancer. It was removed after 2 years and he has just has his 5 year checkup. He also lost most of his sense of smell and taste which made eating difficult, but that came back too.
Refuse taking away man is on his way to look at the refuse, then we are going out.

Ooh, are you all getting zhuzhed for spring? Turned out nice here but only just made double figures so I've had fairly lazy day...I've alerted the man with the mower, p'raps I should get him to whizz over my hair with his hedge trimmer.

I started the workhouse one but couldn't carry on, much too sad. I am enjoying Farewell to the East End though....but haven't they "cleaned up" the books for TV? Not surprising really Bits of it are even beyond channel 4 at its most contentious.
We went shopping today and had hamburgers. Tomorrow nice refuse man comes. He came today to see how much there was so that's okay, also tomorrow gas man comes to do boiler service so that's another job off the list...I think that will make me up to date which is the first time in YEARS.
