well, there was still some left in the bottle, woofgang.

Tomorrow is engagement party day on the south bank. Weather should be good, it was 14 degrees today and I was out in the garden in a T shirt.
Oh Congratulations to the Happy Couple jno.
I keep falling asleep in the evenings and miss most of whatever I am watching. I have a milky coffee but dont drink alcohol unless we are eating out, apart from Saturday's when we have tapas which is eating out I suppose. I've nothing against alcohol it just doesn't suit me.
the lunch/party was very nice. The pub was five minutes' walk from the station, or 20 minutes depending on the navigator; we chose the latter route for reasons unknown. The other parents seem very pleasant.
I am glad it all went well Jno. We are having a quiet day here as Shughy had a bit of a digestive upset yesterday....he does get them from time to time. Loads of tiny meals and peace and quiet sort it but he is a worry.
it's been pointed out to me that at lunch yesterday, jno jnr ate the broccoli but left the chips, which is new. Somebody may be reforming him.

I did the opposite, as always.
Yes jno, chips or broccoli mm? chips everytime
We ate lunch in a delightful old farmhouse in the middle of the island. O nearly choked when I saw the prices, but have to say it was delicious and so good we both ate two courses. There was a darling little braying miniature donkey running around the other side of the wall. He snatched someone's anorak and was playing with it. Beautiful sunny weather and we ate outside.
weather deffo warming up here. Have had to change my spring cleaning plans so as to have the spare bedroom ready for the tortoises as I expect they will wake soon. Shughy much better. I used to like broccoli but it stopped liking me.
I thought I'd ordered four pairs of socks from America but it seems I ordered four packs, each of four pairs. The second consignment arrived this morning; the postman dragged our recycling bin up by the door and hid the packet behind it (he seems to have arrived so early we were both asleep).

So now I have 16 pairs of socks and will never have to buy any more as long as I live. All I have to do is extend the east wing so I've got somewhere to keep them all.
are they good socks?
woofgang, yes, I need loose-tipped ones - if they're too tight they leave ruts all round my legs and create a red rash all round (little blood vessels bursting, I suspect). I couldn't find anything here that worked but bought some Medipeds in the USA that worked very well a few years ago. They're still fine but a few have worn through, so I thought I'd buy a small number of new ones...
loose-topped, that would be
I get mine from sock shop, I need loose tops and seamless toes too...am waiting for them to et colours back in, they only have grey at the present
Oh seamless toes sound idyllic, my toes are so tender that any crease or seam hurts so much. We can't buy anything from Out of Europe as the customs get so silly and return them .
.
neti, the UK is still in the EU...be quick!

Evening all
I don't need to buy socks these days, the NHS provide them. Not that I like wearing them but better than another leg fiasco .
Glad to hear the engagement party went well Jno.
The good news is the scaffolders come tomorrow so it's all systems go with the roof at last.Hooray.At least the weather looks fair for the next week which is about how long it will take.Must remember to keep bedroom curtains shut!
Hope you're all ok .I'll say Goodnight.
oh flipping heck, another tooth seems to have crumbled. It may have been a crown as a bit is still there, but it looks as though I'll be calling the dentist in the morning. God what a useless mouth.
I bet your dentist loves you Jno, you are his new cars and hoildays in the sun :) more seriously, I am sorry for your troubles.
doesn't look as if any appointments are available until after half-term.

The crown was less than three years old.
oh that's not good.
the tooth next to it was the one extracted a couple of weeks ago; that probably increased the pressure on it, even though I was trying to eat everything on the other side of my mouth. Teeth, who invented them.
