National Park has been deliberately shot at with a bow and arrow and hours later when that hadn't killed him he was shot and killed by an American dentist. The killing itself is bad enough but the repercussions for Cecil's offspring are dire.

I find it strange that game rangers, guides, wild life film makers etc etc are frowned upon if they terminate a wild animals life, no matter how cruel and harsh the circumstance s - that the way it is in the bush, let nature take it's course etc, etc. Yet a hunter can pay a shedload of money to kill for a trophy and interfere with the status quo in an area and, in this...

DB, I was just interjecting a little humor into what is not really a humorous situation. If he was a killer of stones (stone-killer) and not animals for the mere thrill of it, everyone would be quite happy. And I know exactly what euphemisms are and how the are used and misused. I think that we both agree that this individual, and those of his ilk, are to be abhorred.
Doh!

Such a shame for the beautiful lion. His killing sickens me.

SirP, wow, I don't remember seeing that at all. No idea why it wasn't mentioned on here. I would have hated it had I read it at the time but not sure whether I would have started a thread about it. Perhaps it is the illegality of this latest incident and the snide way Cecil was lured out of his protected area that captured peoples imagination. Pleased to see that McGrath has seen the error of his ways. I hope he's stuck to that.
Sir Rodger Moore, has something to say on the matter to.

According to a local newspaper, the USFWS is now getting involved; however, I don't think that they would have any jurisdiction over something that happened in Africa. Anyway, more pressure on the intrepid hunter...Good: http:// www.sta rtribun e.com/u -s-now- investi gating- cecil-s -killin g-is-lo oking-f or-twin -cities -dentis t/32007 6361/
The dentist isn`t the only guilty party. I know that people like him fuel the market for the hunting of animals in certain parts of the world but the people in Zimbabwe who facilitated it are also guilty and that includes the government which allows rich foreigners to come and shoot animals whose numbers are diminishing.
