moving an aquarium

hi we are moving house and have an aquarium with 3 gold fish in it how do we go about moving them with out stressing them out it is only a 20 min drive away

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Just bag up the fish as they do when you buy them in their own water, keep as much of their water as you can safely transport, Do Not Attempt to move tank with water in!! when you have got tank to new location put in original water and pump, filters etc, add enough tap water to ensure the fish have enough water to swim in, top up the rest of the water to the required level over the next day or two. Make sure heater is kept submerged in water to prevent it overheating.
I am sure there are far more complicated way and im going to be put down for something or other but I have done it this way dozens of times and never lost a fish.

Tourerman, Yes if the tank survives so will the fish, the touble is if the aquarium is a very large one, six inches of water would weigh very heavy, in fact heavy enough to cause leaks ,crack or even break the aquarium whilst being moved or in transit, then all the fish could die. Not the best advice to give was it Tourerman.
