I know that when the jelly is licked off and the meat sits for any length of time it usually looks like a sponge - very unmeat like.
My Angels enjoy Tesco's meat, it's cheaper - but the meat source is probably doubtful too.

i used to feed my cats on whiskas inclusivly. last year they all and i have 6 refused to eat it and i have put them on dry food which has everything in it. it is called hills prescription diet. a 3kilo bag is only 18.00 from your vet and you dont need to add anything else ie calcium or vitamins. i give them a pouch of purina which they love in the morning the dry food is on tap whenever they want it. okay they are a little fat, well overweight really not a lot. all my boys weight between 5- 61/2 kilos but they are all big and healthy.
My kitten started on whiskas kitten pouches then stopped eating them. She eats Felix kitten pouches and Asda's own brand of dried food - only 42p a box! I prefer pouches because they don't smell. The whiskas website said she should be having 3-4 a day but she has one and dried food in a seperate bowl. I give her water from the filter jug in the fridge which makes my hubby laugh. I tried her on kitten milk but she wouldn't entertain it !
