Disappointing that the Ed chooses to make a reappearance on his first day back (yesterday) by initiating a thread in Chatterbank ....

Wouldn`t the better way have been FIRSTLY to send a New Year message to ALL Abers and write an Editor`s Blog?

Not for the first time the Ed has chosen Chatterbank as the point of re-entry and the place to express bonhomie after a period of absence ....

Yes, I do have a huge back log of work from the Christmas period that I'm trying to get through, but I had to post in here because you're upset that I said hello in Chatterbank?

The only reason I post there is because it's our most popular section and I don't have the time to write a blog right now.

I'm being berated because I said hello and asked if everyone had a good Christmas? Blimey...

No need for a long blog Ed, just a few words saying Happy New Year to everybody in your blog section. Anyway Happy New Year to you. You can't please all of the people all of the time but please remember we don't all use Chatterbank. Also chatterbank threads only stay visible for a short time.

Hi ED. I'm glad you showed your face here.
I did say it was becuse you were overworked that you hadn't done a blog........................but your absence is missed if you do not say anything at all.............and yet you are still moaned at if you do post something.

Maybe a message here in suggs would have kept the peace all round?

I agree Dani - p'raps the Ed should have a Category called "Ed's Comments" - rather than AB Editor's Blogs.

That way, there'd be no reason for threads or posts such as this - unless he didn't get time to post on their either. ;o}

Now, now Ed, there's no need to go all defensive. As some of us have said, just a few words or new year greeting would have been polite.

Gosh!! It takes nano seconds to type a few words on a screen and press submit............unless you are using Ab and the submit takes 5 minutes between each one and you get zapped repeatedly for trying to submit it over and over again.
maybe the ed is slow to type on a keyboard.

Cood to hear from you Ed ..... still would have preferred if you greeted ALL via a Blog.

To `latch on` to the excuse given to you in other answers above about chatterbank being most important ..... never forget any part of your membership even if they are a minority, for all abers can contribute towards generating site revenues .... it`s bad PR.

If there is one good time to address ALL the membership, then a New Year message to all is as good a way as any.
