i may be wrong but as an aber a good few years ago. i dont recall the editorial staff a) asking a question... b) contributing to threads. c) making a comment to abers during discussions. d) being so aware of the moderators , especially when they always agree with the " staff".............................when did this envolvement by the editorial staff change ?

Ed - sorry not with you on this one just as you arent with me.
Im not sure why you are querying what I posted to be frank.
I have read posts by the Editorial team saying that there are various Eds...like Weekend Ed,THE Ed,Spare Eds......what was wrong with saying you can tell the difference a mile off.If I came on as an Ed (ha-and the world was proved to be flat) and didnt change my style it would be apparent -its not a criticism just an observation.
You highlighted my compliment that 'vile trolls' were being eradicated...we all know they are vile trolls but we all dont have the facility to do anything about -it was a positive comment towards the new policing of the site.
Thanks for claryfying about reporting.I wouldnt- if I did report-want another ABer (who Mods) to read anything I commented on.Thats fair isnt it?
Now have a good weekend, get better, enjoy your curry and let whichever Ed take the reins .
but as a manager you cant have your cake and eat it, the best managers are the ones who have the sense to remain slightly apart from the staff,
Depends Anne. Not always the case at all in my experience. Depends on the staff, the manager and what the expectations are.
As far as AB is concerned the best editors since I have been around have been the ones that communicated well and joined in with the team. Impartiality is, I agree, important.
Boring job though don't you think...looking at a screen all day trying to interpret our rantings..?...mind you.....is that not what I do every day?....lol
AB has changed for the better, in my view. Many were mercilessly abused and if they dared retaliate or speak up, they were further threatened and abused more.
Lofty......I agree....the unacceptable trolls are being spotted quickly......my main concern is impartiality and favouritism which seems to have engendered an era of knee-jerk reactions and posts and threads precipitately removed.
Khandro....true.....but are we dealing with a multinational? A website is only as good as its contributors and I have noted discontent in the last few months.
it's the way of forums, they ebb and flow, people get fed up for a while then come back, some stick it out, new people join, it just goes on...
i'm a member of quite a number of other forums/discussion groups and it's the same with all of them.
