Children/teens book I read in the 80's

In the 80's I remember a book about a girl that stays in a scottish castle. She begins to see visions or channel a girl from the past that was the same age.
In the end the girl from the past dies but I can't remember how. Would love to get the book for my daughter,

Thanks for the replies everyone, I vaguelly recall the title may be the name of the scottish castle. It's like having an itch I can't scratch!
