I don't think it's a scam either, I'm willing to take my chances.
My holiday this year ended in utter disaster, I was stranded at an international airport in a strange City to me with no money, which meant I couldn't get myself checked into a hotel and no food. The airline wouldn't change my ticket (it was a non changeable/non refundable ticket) and I couldn't just 'check in' 5 days before my flight was due to leave to be in the safety of the departure lounge. I spent the first night outside the airport, when it opened again I begged the airline to change my ticket, to no avail. A friend back here was willing to pay for a new ticket but the ticket desk refused his card payment over the phone, he HAD to be right there to verify the card. FFS.
I went and sat in the seats in the airport and just cried - feeling damn sorry for myself really. A man apporoached me, asked what was wrong, I told him and he went and tried to change the ticket for me too, but still they wouldn't budge.
He came back to me and said he had to go through to departures to catch his flight and offered me money to at least get in a B&B, I refused (my pride even when I was that low). He said "Well, I'm going to leave $100 on the seat next to you anyway, if you don't take it, somebody else will benefit" and with that he walked away.
I did not get his name, his number, any contact details for this absolute angel of a human being. I got myself checked into a Travel Lodge nearby and I will never forget that man for as long as I live.
Its my turn to forward his kindness and maybe restore a tiny bit of faith in humankind for Tonia.
