Watched the hospital programme on BBC 1 this morning and was only half paying attention but I think I picked up that a former surgeon had Parkinsons and he was undergoing a brain operation (whilst awake) and they inserted some electrical probes in his brain and planned to do a further operation to insert a battery in his chest to stimulate the probes (a bit like a pacemaker I guess) this certainly sounds like deep brain stimulation, unfortunately unless there is a repeat somehwere on Sky its unlikely it will be shown again. The irony was the surgeon had performed this operation many times himself and so he knew what to expect, Ugh - brave man indeed. LOL
