Three parents have had to leave our office due to their child's school closing due to the snow.
Us "non" parents are now holding the fort until 5.30pm.
Is that fair? What choice do they have I suppose, but its bloomin busy today and our workforce has nearly halved!!
I don't know about fair, but IMO it's more risky to send kids home (where they could be roaming the streets or hanging around the shops) than to keep them in school.
I know what you mean, there's only 2 staff in our place today including me with the schools closed and travel disruption. Can't really be helped though.
It might not feel fair to you as you've got to makeup the shortfall but there's not a lot the parents can do. If I have to take time off when they shut the school I lose a days pay.
Deadlines still must be met and its hard to energise the staff who are left as they are now concerned with the commute home etc and half their collegues left at 11.30am.
Have you considered that some of the teachers will have had to leave their workplaces to collect their kids from school? This then makes the teacher to pupil ratio too low and so the school closes, etc.
FGS - just got a message from my sons school. They are closing and sending the kids home but, but!! the buses are running as normal. If the buses are running as normal why do they need to close?
Hippy Hoppy - touche!
Just on a quick break. You will find that I jump on here intermittently. Besides, with the boss gone I am ranking member of staff!!
