I do not feel the need to socialise, I'm not bothered whether people like me or not, and I don't need lots of friends or acquaintances.

I'd prefer people to like me but not really bothered if they don't. I have many acquaintances but very few friends. I make polite conversation at work, and listen to what others have to say about themselves. I don't open up freely, so I rarely talk about myself.
Count me in on this party. I'm OK at work, but I do spend my time with others longing to be back in my own company. I need to really connect with someone in order to pursue a friendship...and that's a rarity. I've never been one to have many friends...and I do feel lonely sometimes. But that's just the way it is.
Fruitsalad everyone is different -just like some people need background noise to concentrate and some like total silence. I am 'sociable' but don't go out of my way to be life and soul of the party and I have very few friends -only people I've known for years and years and I sometimes only speak to them a couple of times a month. I quite like being on my own with one exception -in bed -I hate going to sleep on my own -it only happens very rarely if OH takes youngest son camping
