Grecian, Anyone Tried It ?

asked before but cant find link, i hate going grey. any idea what colour or dye but without turning into mr spock or elvis.

Please don't use Grecian. My OH uses it and it smells disgusting - not just at the time, but days later - it also runs down his face when he gets sweaty.
I assume you're male. Just use any decent brand of female dye in a colour that's not too extreme. Just warm brown or something similar.

I considered it once, when I had more hair, but I noticed the ingredients contained arsenic so I opted not to. Just had a quick websearch and it looks like they've reformulated it as it doesn't show up in the list any more.

I'm unsure what the reference to Spock and Elvis means though. Pick a colour you like and try it.

Spock and Elvis - jet black, clearly dyed, sticks out a mile, just like a bad-fitting syrup.

Take a tip from a female,once you start colouring grey you are going to have to do it every 3 weeks or so forever unless you give in.

Some people really suit grey hair, but don’t necessarily know that. Ask someone you trust what they think. I quite like my grey hair. I don’t know how old you are but it can look false if you are of an age and haven’t got any grey hair however good the dye.

Don't dye your hair - grey is preferable to roots.

My hair used to be dark brown almost black, now at 65 it is not just grey it is white. But at least I still have a full head of hair. I consider it looks 'distinguished' I will never dye it.

I thought someone had asked before, answer given then still stands. Beware the flat colour. Look in the hair dept. in a supermkt., find a shade near to your own and follow the instructions. Grecian etc. gives a flat, horrible effect.

How do you think women manage to keep their hair colour looking OK? We look in the supermarket (unless we are well-enough-off to get a hairdresser to do it) find a colour and follow the instructions. Sigh.........

^^^ Personally, my hairdresser advised me that my roots were turning a pretty silver colour, so I've not coloured since December and I am very pleased with what is now my natural colour - a sort of warm silver at the moment.

Though my hair was black,by the time I was forties it was totally grey,I never considered dying it I mean it's just what happens and at least I've still got a full head of hair.Like Eddie I consider it,and have been told many times, it gives a man a "distinguished" look

It's taken me nearly 65 years for my hair to go white.I like it and will not be using Grecian or any other preparation for the reasons others here have raised already.

im mostly frey around the sides, i hate it. just wondering about everyone so negitive about grecian, if its that bad why do they still stock it ?

I would do as Jo suggested and get a female brand. Most of them are tried and tested.

If you have a light coloured leather suite do not use it. My OH used it for years and gradually it started to stain the headrest, it came off at first but then he got a bit heavy handed when cleaning it off and the leather turned a greyish blue (it was ivory ) and cannot be removed - ruined
