Pierced Ears Sore

Just started wearing white gold earrings which I havent worn for months. Used surgical spirit to clean them and antiseptic cream, holes were still open. However ears sore hot and itchy still after three days, I take them out at night but am trying to persevere. Could I be allergic to white gold now? Or should I clean holes and earrings eith anything else? Tia

There could be nickel in them which is causing the irritation.

I'd say it's the nickel also. I can only wear silver because any gold below 14ct causes a painful itchy reaction. Try coating the wires or posts with clear nail varnish. That may help.
