Hi all, putting this in B&S because don't want the usual anti-smoking comments I'd get in CB. A genuine request for commiseration and advice. I've smoked menthol cigarettes my whole smoking life and also have zero mental desire to give up. I don't know what to do from Wednesday when menthol are outlawed (within UK ad EU). I don't like the taste of regular cigarettes. Anyone in the same boat, what are you going to do? Any tips for finding a black market supply :-)

If I put some menthol oil or peppermint essence on a tissue in a jar and seal it with cigarettes inside until the cigarettes have taken up the flavour am I beginning to look desperate? ..... ;-)
I have asked around here for any ‘home remedies’ that people have tried - apparently sucking a Fishermans Friend before smoking is the answer ...

... this may just be a rumour spread by Fishermen ...
My friend and I used to smoke Consulate when we were at collage (long since given up) and yes - they did start us on smoking cigarettes. Got fond memories of sitting at the back of the bus smoking Consulates on the way to the disco. I would probably try storing normal cigarettes in a tin containing menthol crystals which I believe is how menthol fags came to be invented.
You could try the trick my wife used on her filters when she tried rolling her own. At the pharmacy she bought some menthol crystals. When she purchased a new packet of filters she would leave them in a poly bag with just a pinch of crystals for a few days before use.
Do you remember, Prudie, the advertising slogan:

Consulate - cool as a mountain stream.

I thought that the advertising people had obviously never fallen into such a stream. (I did, just the once...)
a black market supply? have no idea :-)

Go the roll your own route, Prudie.
Menthol tips are avaiable online.

Packets of 10 were outlawed as it was thought that doing so wold prevent youngsters from starting to smoke, this was after it was decided to hide nicotine products from sight in shops as this would help prevent youngsters from smoking.
In my youth ( a long time ago ) menthol cigarettes were a novelty fag that you just tried and usually went back to ordinary fags, Consulate were the only menthol cigarettes around back then.
Prudie - my "children" bought me a vape kit a few years ago - it made me cough big time, so much I couldn't even begin to persevere with it. I'm still smoking the normal ones!

Choux well remember the cool as a mountain stream line. Also don't know where they got that idea from as the only time I've swum in one was once in North Wales, its the coldest water I've ever experienced in my life, never again.
Alba my OH uses menthol tips in roll your own but I think they are included in the ban, he has stocked up.
Does anyone remember Moore menthol?
I smoked those for a while, Ummmm and St. Moritz.
Prudie you'll have to start making your own Menthol filters. Maybe start smoking rollies.

Any spare tampons at home?

My rollie days are long over, far too fiddly, they never stay alight and you don't have the satisfaction of having something firm in your fingers.
Maybe that's where the fisherman's friend could come in handy...
I’ve just asked at work and there is a specific product for this problem. They are menthol capsules that you put in the packet of ciggies, they come in green or blue and the longer you leave them in the packet, the mintier the ciggies become. These ones are made by Rizla and are kept by the cigarette papers.
Sherr do you know how much they are?
Suck an extra strong mint, and smoke an ordinary cigarette ?
"10.39 satisfaction of having something firm in your fingers"

I know the feeling, haha
I don't smoke, but saw someone buying those Rizla thingies in ASDA on Saturday. I think they come in two "flavours" because there was a blue and green "packet" being shown by the shop assistant.
