Over the last few days since the cold weather came I have had a dry mouth. today it has been worse than usual. I have been drinking a lot of water but the wetness from that only lasts for a few minutes. the back of my throat feels the same and I have a bit of a cough to, just something that keeps making me clear my throat. It's drier at the back of my mouth than the front. I'm not displaying any other symptoms like dizzyness or tieredness. I'm sure I'm not diabetic. My ex husband suffered from it and I know the symptoms. I'm not on any medication.

Thanks for your time.

A pamphlet from my dentist suggests these:

Suck on sugarless hard candy to stimulate saliva flow; citrus, cinnamon or mint-flavored candies are good choices.
Chew fibrous foods, like carrots and celery between meals.
Us a water spray bottle to wet your mouth. Keep it near the places you work, sit and sleep.
Chew sugarless gum to stimulate salivary flow. Chew gum that contain xylitol (Clen-Dent, XyliChew), a sweetening agent that reduces cavity-causing bacteria; Trident Advantage with Recaldent, which has a remineralizing agent that adds calcium and phosphate to the teeth.
Suck, DO NOT CHEW, on ice or sugar-free Popsicles.
A warm salt water or baking soda rinse can improve oral comfort when your mouth is sore.

Good luck!

If it's since the cold weather, have you turned your central heating up? My 14 year old daughter has this and It was too cold to not have the heating on in her room, I filled a bowl of boiling water and put it on a shelf near her bed (obviously in a safe place) and have also put wet towels or clothes on the radiator in the room to dry. It really helped make the air less dry, and the cough went at night. I also hoovered her bed and "spring cleaned" her room, which can get dusty.
Sorry I'm not suggesting your house is dusty, but mine is and it doesn't help when the air is dry due to central heating.
Have you got a cold coming? i breathe through my nose and havent been able to since i got a monster of a cold, i have to breathe using my mouth instead and i have ever such a dry mouth and throat, the only thing that has helped me is sucking Aqua-Drops, they are little sweets that stimulate the flow of saliva in the mouth.
