Do you believe that anyone can really tear themselves away from a bad situation or a situation they know isn't emotionally good for them without and big mental kick up the backside?

It's all very well having friends and family telling you over and over again and trying to drum info into your head but without that big wake up call, that most people discover on there own, does anyone really listen and follow the advice being given?

I never ask for advice, only opinion. There is a big difference.

"A man is a master of his own destiny, the chortle of others will do little in the wake of his findings"

Leviticus.
when i was first in business many moons ago i was running around like a headless chicken and getting it all wrong............ then one day a local business man said to me " take a step outside of yourself and have a look once in a while".

i use that method in most issues i come accross in life so i say ... yes you can tear yourself away , you just have to believe in your self!!!!
I believe for every drop of rain that falls
A flower grows,
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night
A candle glows.
I believe for everyone who goes astray
Someone will come to show the way.
I believe,
Oh, I believe.
I believe above the storm
The smallest prayer, will still be heard.
I believe that someone in that great somewhere
Hears every word
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry,
Or touch a leaf
Or see the sky,
Then I know why I believe.
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry,
Or touch a leaf
Or see the sky,
Then I know why I believe

I never take advice, only give it

Wardy I like that "A man is a master" thing! That makes sense! I shall be using that.

Rugeley - I mean with emotional things.. not with business... Like when a woman can't walk away from a guy even though she knows he is no good for her... or like my mate whose girlfriend broke up with him but he can't leave her alone! Do we ever really listen? I know I didn't until I got a big kick up bum... and no-one else did it... I kicked myself! So to speak!

Legend - I agree with that... people can give me advice until they are blue in the face but at the end of the day I am going to do what I want to do!
Question Author
And Elvis.... I must admit you do give good advice.... Blunt but good!
this is what i mean tho!!!

sometimes we are so wrapped up in the relationship we dont see whats really going on?

i have been in relationships that at the time are EVERYTHING!! but when you think about it its all a sham!!!

and whilst were on about advice.................. i listen to opinions not advice, were all human!!
Question Author
Ahhh ok.... yeah thats very true..... a sham is a great word to use as well.
I guess I listen to advice but I have to know its right for me in the end. No-one can make you do what you dont want. But I have torn myself away against my feelings and it was hardest thing I've ever done but it had to be done
Question Author
But when you did that 4Get - did something inside you just click and you thought 'Right, I need to move one?'
Wardy just made me cry.
advice is just that advice .if you are strong enough you can move on.if not you will stay static and suffer because of it.learn from your mistakes and listen to advice but act on your own instinct.
Question Author
That's the word I'm looking for... Instinct!
instinct got me where i am now.without it id still be oblivious.trust me .i went with my instinct and was proven right .you oughta try it.
yes I knew my relationship with this other person was never going to ammount to anything and that I was worth more than that, I guess it made a difference that I'm older now and dont have time to waste on something thats never gonna happen.
Question Author
I think as you get older 4get, you tend to start to take on the attitude of not wanting to waste time!

Legend - I go on my instinct all the time! It's what I live by! Gut feeling and all that.

From now on if you wish to post a sensible answer in my threads then I shall aknowledge you but if you take the slightest dig at me... I shall just report you without warning.
too right. :-) Is this something you are going through then?
Question Author
I must admit.. the feeling has been coming to me more and more recently... It's not just one person though.. it's a few in general! (Won't delve to much though.. Lol)
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I often think if only.... But it took one massive wake up call for me to see sense in my last relationship and I will regret not taking advice on it for the rest of my life. Like most people though I always think I know better.
