I was fixing the lift at the complex as instructed, and the lift suddenly plummeted i would say about 14 floors. I was stood on top of it and a bit shook up afterwards but managed to grab onto the maintanence ladder. Is it legal for the complex to make me fix a lift with no saftey gear on?
The boss said if i didn't do the complex a favour i would loose my job.
(Think its because the boss fancys the complex owner)
Anyway, i fixed the lift but bloody hell, never am i going, on top of the lift of a 40 storey building when the lift is on floor 31.
Boss can take his favours and.. i better stop here.

But I believe there was a case of this actually happening about 12 months ago where I think the lift occupants were killed, I'm not sure where it happened even but it was on the news!! So it is not impossible just extremely unlikely!!!

Has anybody else noticed how the OP has said right at the end..... I better stop here ? Well I did. It's typical, like knocking on someone's door and running away. It's ultimately cowardly and I am sure we will all do something about it. This question is not about lifts, it is about the decline of common decency in Britain.
When i said drop, i meant, the whole problem in the first place was to do with the lift cable. There is a saftey device on the lift that stopped it falling anymore. And i managed to grab onto the ladder because i was right by it and was holding onto it as the lift dropped.
Also, the lifts at work, do have a number of opther saftey devoice fitted but the other saftey devices fitted but they are only to stop the lift from falling more than 15 floors at a time and if the lift is falling the devices slow it down.
