If anyone has any messages of support and advice I would appreciate them at this moment.

Hi Filth
I am so sorry about your dad.. It must be a real shock, AlI can say is that you and your family need to pull together and be strong for your dad. Positivity is the key!!!
I expect your are in shock at the moment, you need to get as much info on Liver Cancer as possible, this will help you come to terms with your dads treatment and how he is feeling

Hi filthiestfis,
I am so sorry aabout your bad news.
I can empathise with you, as my Husband was diaognosed with Cancer four years ago, nine months after we married. Second time for both of us. He is still quite a young man and fought it all the way. Operations to remove the Cancer, chemotherapy and after two years went into remission.
Unfortunatley it has come big style and he is going into hospital on Sunday for an operation and Chemotherapy again.
We try to get on with normal living, as normal as can be under the circumstances.
WE asked a lot of questions in the beginning went on the net to find as much information as possible as it is not one of the best Cancers to have, the one my Husband has.
We went from tears, and now we try to laugh a lot. We talked a lot about it in beginning but accept it as it is now. Big hugs help too.
I get a lot of support from my colleagues at work.
No support from our families unfortunately.
You have have a lot of belief in your Doctors and Surgeons too.
The word cancer is very frightening I know, but lots can be treated.
Just have faith and be there for your Dad for when he needs you or if he wants to talk. Everyone's reaction is so different.
You also need to be supported as it is so hard on families and carers. Like my Husband always has said "I am the one who has held everything together"
Just hang in there! Hugs xxxxxx

very sorry to hear this.
my father died from liver cancer.
sorry to tell you but this isn't one of the ones that is treatable, (not medically qualified but from my own experince and reading) Once it takes hold, it is very quick.
You can not really prepare for the death of a loved one apart from having time to tell them how much you love them and that for all the fallings out over the years, (if you had them) that you wouldn't have swopped them for the world.
I wish for my fathers sake he hadn't known so he hadn't had to contemplate his own demise. Selfishly it did enable me time to say goodbye, so whilst I have never 'got over' his death, I am not left with regrets about what I didn't get chance to say..
I realise I havent' written words of comfort, such as where there is life there is hope etc. I am sure you will get this form others. Just to say that like others before its the pits when your parent is going to die, whatever thier age, they are too young and whatever your age, you are too young to loose a parent.

Hi filthiestfits, So sorry to hear that about your dad, but you must reamin positive, if it has only affected part of the liver it can be operated on so don't be negative, think on the positive side and keep your dad positive it is one of the greatest things in fighting cancer, you must also keep your sense of humour and also keep talking to your mum and dad you can help each other through this, you must also remember to look after yourself, cos you are in for a few tears, have you got brothers and sisters you can talk to as well ? when my wife had cancer it was the humour that got us through it, and she was 100% positive throughout, I know you will be asking why dad, but that won't help you will it, it is here and you have all got to deal with it, I can't offer you any wise words to make you feel better, I wish I could, I can only wish you all good luck in the coming months, take care and give your mum a hug from me, Ray
Dear filthiest

So sorry about your dad but years ago our neighbour had liver cancer and was given just 4 days to live. Amazingly, he lasted another 20 years as the liver suddenly started to heal itself. This is very rare but miracles can happen. The fact that we are here at all is an example of that ! I pray for you and your dad. just be there for him. That's all you can do.
